This is the heller (light or pale), modern and familiar version of Bavarian Weissbier (or “hefeweizen”) that became the style standard in the 1960’s. It’s easy to drink and refreshing with traditional fruity and aromatic esters that remind some of banana and clove. Served unfiltered and hazy, this is the perfect Biergarten accompaniment.
Christoph Küsterer was the original German brewer in the Grand River Valley and Kent County. Arriving around 1844, his family’s brewing history lasted nearly a century. We’re proud to pay tribute to his legacy as the region’s first craft brewery focused on German styles. Our Küsterer Biers are brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot (German Beer Purity Law) and contain only water, malt, hops and yeast.
