Big Sid

8.4% ABV (Alcohol by Volume) • 40 IBU (International Bittering Units)

Rich, malty and bold with toffee and caramel notes and a kick like Big Sid, the legendary 140lb python that escaped in West Michigan, terrorizing northern Kent County in the summer of 1978. Balanced with Cascade, Centennial, and Citra hops, allow Big Sid to slither around your taste buds.

This Barley Wine has several variants as well, including dry hopped versions:
Big Sid Does Cascade – cask conditioned with Cascade dry hopping
Big Sid Does Mackinac – cask conditioned with Michigan Mackinac dry hopping

Big Sid Rides a Comet – cask conditioned with Comet dry hopping

Big Sid Rides a Buffalo – a Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrel Aged barley wine.

Christoph Küsterer

Christoph Küsterer was the original German brewer in the Grand River Valley and Kent County. Arriving around 1844, his family’s brewing history lasted nearly a century. We’re proud to pay tribute to his legacy as the region’s first craft brewery focused on German styles. Our Küsterer Biers are brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot (German Beer Purity Law) and contain only water, malt, hops and yeast.
